Does a padel court need a roof?
No. Outdoor courts can operate without a roof where local weather, demand and the venue's operating model support it. Consider coverage when rain, sun or seasonal conditions reduce playable hours enough to justify the full roof project scope. What clear height should be considered for a padel court roof?
The FIP Rules of Padel effective January 2026 specify 6 m minimum unobstructed height throughout the court and recommend 8 m for new facilities. Check the lowest beam, bracing, lighting or service, not the roof's external height. Confirm the project brief and applicable competition and local requirements; the playing-height rule is not a roof structural approval.
How do wind, drainage and foundation affect roof design?
Wind actions influence the roof structure, connections and support reactions. Roof drainage needs collection and discharge routes coordinated with court and site drainage. The verified ground, slab or deck must support the resulting foundation loads and anchoring strategy. Confirm these interfaces together before fixing support positions or beginning civil work.
Does the roof require a separate structural and foundation review?
Yes. Supplying the court and roof together does not remove the need to review roof loads, support reactions, anchors and the supporting ground or structure. A shared foundation is acceptable only where the complete load path is verified for the actual project.
